Windows Users Dialup Information
Introduction:
Microsoft Windows users have two options for dialing in. One of these
is Dial-Up Networking. The Dial Up Networking section of
Windows (also known as My Connection) cannot be used to dial the WSU
modem pool . Dial Up Networking can ONLY be used in
conjuction with an Internet Service Provider (WSU CS Dept. does not
offer this service through our modem pools) . Click here to
go to our providers page.
In order to use our free modem services, you need to use a TERMINAL
EMULATOR WITH VT100 Settings to dial our modem pool. Here
are some that I know of:
- ZOC for Windows . This is a shareware package that may do the
job. I gave it a brief test and it looks VERY good. This product has
been widely regarded in the OS/2 community, and is now available for
Windows. This software is non-free. Click here
to find out more about ZOC.
- HyperTerm for Windows . This comes with Windows (free).
I have used this program, and it's VT100 emulation is poor. This
program is bad. Avoid it if at all possible.
- Various shareware packages. There is a large set of shareware
available for Windows. I believe there are terminal emulators
available this way. I cannot speak to their quality. PROCOMM was
originally shareware, and it was top quality, so it is possible that a
good shareware program would be the best choice.
A good site for Windows users:

PLEASE let me know your findings on Windows
Terminal Emulators. My email address is at the bottom of this page.
Look at the Ask The System Manager
Modem Page for general instructions for dial-in.
