Computer Science Public Machines
The following machines are for CS student and faculty use.
- sisko - Dual Athlon64 - Debian LINUX.
- kira - Dual Athlon64 - Debian LINUX.
- kirk - Dual Athlon MP 1800 - Debian LINUX .
- spock - Dual Athlon MP 2000 - Debian LINUX .
These four machines are the fastest systems available for student use.
They serve mainly as Xterminal servers (for two labs of Linux-based Xterminals
(see www.ltsp.org for more details on the
Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP)). They also function as remote
login servers (via SSH).
- tinman - Sun UltraSparc running Solaris. This machine is used
mostly for Oracle.
- emcity - Sun UltraSparc running Solaris. This machine is used
mostly for Oracle.
- obrien, dax, chapel, bashir, sulu, odo, quark, scotty, kahless,
uhura, tpau - HP/Compaq Optiplex 2.8Ghz PCs running Debian LINUX. These
machines are in an open lab with Xwindows on them. They run the same
software as sisko, kira, kirk or spock. The lab is open to any CS
student during regular posted lab hours. Users should use these
machines locally rather than logging into sisko, etc. as they have the
SAME software as the bigger machines without the user load of the
larger servers.
- sinclair, delenn, sheridan, lochley, garibaldi, franklin, gkar,
londo, zack, lyta, kosh - HP/Compaq Optiplex 2.8Ghz PCs running Debian
LINUX. These machines are in an open lab with Xwindows on them. They
have the same software as the main servers. The lab is open to any CS
student during posted lab hours.

Two labs of LTSP Xwindows terminals booting from kirk, spock, sisko
and kira (approximately 20 machines total).
