Oracle - Web - Java - Application Server - Forms

Course Description: Your Oracle career starts here! Ideal for those new to Oracle technology, this course explains how to build Web applications using Oracle's built-in tools. It covers the 5 basic tools you can use to create applications: PL/SQL & PL/SQL Server Pages, Oracle Portal, Oracle Designer, Forms and Reports, Java Servlets and Java Server Pages. You'll also get details on Oracle Internet Application Server (iAS).
Prerequisite: CS 497F or CS 465 with a grade of C or better
or department consent.
Time/Place: Tue/Thu, 7:05-8:20, 128 Jabara Hall (section 05199).

The course will be based on the textbook. |
|
|
The course will have documents and assignments on WSU's Blackboard system. Look for Course ID: CS497_05199 in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. |

Exam 1 will be given at mid-term and Exam 2 will be given during the scheduled period, Tuesday December 17, 2002 7:40-9:30. October 20-22 is Fall Break. |
|
|
Programming assignments must be submitted using email and will be due by 12:00 midnight on the assigned due date. Late assignments will be accepted but will be penalized 10% per calendar day. |
|
|
Exercises will be conducted on a client-server basis. Oracle clients are available in 204 Jabara when the room in not in use. The server is a Computer Science Department machine named tinman. |
|
|
The Oracle CD's will be available for $2 each. You have to be a member of the Oracle Academic Initiative to be licensed for the software. |
|
|
You are expected to complete all assignments independently. Any incident of academic dishonestly will be reported to the CS Department for disciplinary action and you will receive an "F" for the assignment. |
|
|
Make-up examinations are given only if you obtain permission directly from the instructor before the regularly-scheduled examination, and only if the make-up examination can be taken before the next scheduled class meeting. The exams are then arranged with the instructor. |
|
|
The CS Department policies on make-up exams, incompletes, and withdrawals will apply. |
|
|
The last day to drop this class with a "W" is November 4, 2002. |
