Research Paper Proposal Name: Thao Le Course: CS 898T Lecturer: Dr. Chang Date Due: Feb 19/26 1.Topic: An overview of Ad-hoc Networks 2.Major Goals: a. Discuss the historical back ground of Ad-hoc networks. b. Introduce what a Ad-hoc network is. c. Describe the Ad-hoc network protocols. d. Describe its application. 3 Scope: With the progression in radio technologies like Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11 a new concept of networking has become known. This identified as ad hoc networking where possible mobile users arrive within the common boundary of radio link and contribute in setting up the network topology for communication. Nodes within ad hoc are mobile and they communicate with each other within radio range through direct wireless links or multi-hop-routing. Ad hoc networks such as Bluetooth are networks intended to actively connect remote devices such as cell phones, laptops, and PDAs. These networks are also generally referred .ad hoc. because of their changing network topologies. Whereas WLANs use a fixed network infrastructure, ad hoc networks maintain random network configurations, relying on a master-slave system connected by wireless links to enable devices to communicate. This research paper.s focus is on the explanation and study of the Ad-hoc networks in general. 4 References: [1] Andrew S.
