Term Project Proposal Narendiran Visvanathan CS898t - Mobile and Wireless Networks (Summer 2005) Dr.Chin-Chih Chang Topic : -------- A study on Location Aware Computing Objectives : ------------- * What is location aware computing ? * How it actually works ? * Techniques behind location awareness * Architecture * Applications * Privacy Issues * Related Concepts and standards (still in research) * Applications for use (or in near future) * Future work Scope : -------- Since Internet mobile devices and 3G mobile networks become reality, Location aware computing is the landscape of tomorrow. The ability to detect the exact location of the device or may be it's relative location, especially a wireless device is called location aware computer system. This concept bridge the gap between the user and device. This paper will explain how it actually works and the what are the techniques that provides support or making it tomorrow's technology. Then it will tell us more about the architecture behind this system and applications. It will address the privacy issues too since the devices are going to dynamically obtain information based on the location. Finally it will discuss some related concepts or technologies and real life implementations and concludes with the future work.
