Course Description
This is a
special-topic seminar course designed for students who are interested in
wireless ad hoc and sensor network research. The goal is to provide students
with a broad perspective on the active research areas in wireless ad hoc and
sensor networks, and expose them to the fundamental issues in designing and
analyzing ad-hoc and sensor network. Through this course, students can learn techniques, particularly
algorithms and protocols, used in ad hoc and sensor networks, and enhance their
potential to do research in this area. Several labs are prepared to expose students with sensor motes programming and sensor
network design and analysis.
Textbook and Research Papers
There is no text
book in this course. Research papers will be discussed in each class.
Course Work:
Grading Policy
Course Project
A Course project will be assigned
to groups of students. The project will be mostly implementation oriented
related to ad hoc and sensor networks and applications. More information about projects will be
posted on the blackboard.
Students are expected to submit a
monthly progress report for their course project. In the end, each group needs to make a
20-minute presentation of their results to the class. In addition, every team
is asked to turn in a good-quality report documenting the experiments, results,
and analysis.
Topics
Academic Honesty and other Departmental Policies
A standard of honesty,
fairly applied to all students, is essential to a learning environment.
Students abridging a standard of honesty must accept the consequences; penalties are
assessed by appropriate classroom instructors or other designated people.
Serious cases may result in discipline at the college or University level and
may result in suspension or dismissal. Dismissal from a college for academic
dishonesty constitutes dismissal from the University.
The departmental policies, regarding make-up exam,
incomplete and withdrawal, can be obtained at http://www.cs.wichita.edu/resources/policies.shtml.
Special Needs
If you have a physical,
psychiatric/emotional, medical, or learning disability that may have an impact
on your ability to carry out assigned course work, I encourage you to contact
