About Wichita, KS

Wichita, KansasWichita State University, one of Kansas' six state-assisted universities, is the only one located in a large metropolitan area. The City of Wichita -- a thriving community of some 300,000 people -- is Kansas' largest city and its cultural, educational, health care, financial, communications, and business center. Known as the "Air Capital fo the World," Wichita boasts four major aircraft companies - the Boeing Company, Cessna Aircraft Company, Learjet, and Raytheon Aircraft Company -- as well as four major hospitals and a branch of The University of Kansas School of Medicine.

Wichita offers additional emplyment and career opportunities through many high-tech companies, some of whose corporate headquarters are located in Wichita.

In addition, the area supports an abundance of companies specialising in agriculture, petroleum, enigneering, aplsticds, and electronics. Many entrepreneurs make their homes here and seveal support WSU programs.
